*LG Electronics has appointed Sunlite Computronics Limited, the sole distributor of LG notebooks in Hong Kong, to provide warranty services to the customers.

*You must keep the original receipts when coming in for service.

LG Local Limited Warranty

Please read this section carefully for warranty provided by LG Electronics. It contains information about the services and maintenance to which you are entitled to.

This Limited Warranty applies only to LG notebooks (hereinafter called “the Product”) manufactured by LG Electronics for sales in Hong Kong only. LG notebooks that are purchased outside of Hong Kong are not covered under this Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-LG hardware or software products, even if it is sold with the LG product.

If you are not sure of the extent of your warranty, please ask for advice at the shop where you purchased your LG notebook.

Services and maintenance of LG Local Limited Warranty will be rendered upon valid warranty registration with complete warranty information within seven (7) days from the date of purchase.


WARRANTY COVERAGE

LG warranty coverage commences from the date you purchased the Product. Please retain your sales receipt or delivery invoice along with this warranty.

LG warrants the Product against defects in material or workmanship under normal use for the applicable warranty period listed below (“Warranty Period”), beginning from the date of original purchase by the Purchaser. If the Product becomes defective during the Warranty Period, LG will, at its option and as specified below, repair the Product with new or reconditioned components or parts, or replace the Product with a new or reconditioned Product of the same or functionally equivalent model.

Accessories refer to those bundled accessories that come with the original notebook packing box. They include but are not limited to: all internal or external CD-ROM drives, floppy diskette drives, docking stations, port replicators, battery chargers, and power supplies.)

WARRANTY SERVICE
Carry-in Warranty Service
LG offers the Purchaser a “Carry-in” Warranty Service for the applicable Warranty Period which includes repair of all defects in materials and workmanship (i.e. labour and parts), provided that the fault has occurred under the operation of the Product as described in the User's Manual.

Parts removed from a Product during Warranty Service will become the property of LG. LG spare parts used during Warranty Service assume the remaining warranty coverage of the Product they are used on.

The Product shall be considered as repaired when it fulfills tests performed according to the original Product specifications and when the operation system has been restored. LG Local Limited Warranty does not include restoring backups of any customer data or software.

Transportation, custom duties (if any) and insurance cost of the Product to/from the designated service centres are to be covered by the Purchaser.

Service and turnaround time depends on the location and Product.

How to Obtain Warranty Services

Should your LG Product become defective within the Warranty Period, contact your local supplier or LG Helpdesk at LG Hong Kong Service Center. When contacting the Helpdesk, the following information is required:

  1. Your name, address, and contact number.
  2. The Product name, model number and serial number. This information is available on the labels underneath the LG notebook, or on the label inside the lid at the back of the unit. 
  3. A brief description of the problem.
     
LG Helpdesk will designate a return point for your Product for services.  When returning the Product to the nominated return point, please note that the following must be provided:
  1. Proof of purchase (a copy of the original sales receipt or invoice), or the Warranty  Registration confirmation  sent to you by  the Customer Service Department of SUNLITE Computronics Limited (the sole distributor of LG notebooks in Hong Kong).
  2. Product in proper packing, preferably in the original packing box.
  3. All software and/or original CDs provided by LG.
  4. Computer login and password.
  5. A brief description of the problem.
  6. Call reference number given by LG Helpdesk, and
  7. Return address and contact details. 
LG WARRATNY LIABILITY

Pre-installed or Bundled Software

LG and its affiliates, suppliers, service providers, and resellers disclaim all warranties, conditions and are representations, whether express, implied or statutory, with respect to software and documentation provided with the Product and licensed to the Purchaser, its quality, performance, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. LG and its affiliates, suppliers, service providers, and resellers do not warranty that the functions contained in the software will be uninterrupted or error free. The software and documentation are provided “AS IS”, except if expressly to the terms and conditions of the software license agreement contained in or accompanying the software. In no event will LG, its affiliates, suppliers, service providers, or resellers be liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from any defect in the software or documentation however caused, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Exclusions to the LG Local Limited Warranty 

This Limited Warranty does not apply to the following :

  1. Defects caused by the operation outside the usage parameters stated in the User's Manual.
  2. Malfunctions caused by misuse or abuse, by improper installation, operation or maintenance, by improper connections to the peripherals, by use of non-LG spare parts, by service modifications or repairs performed by a person not authorized by LG, or by other conditions not arising from defects in product materials or workmanship.
  3. Malfunction or failure caused by accidental or intentional damage.
  4. Defects resulting from normal wear and tear.
  5. Diskettes, CD-ROMs, carrying cases or other parts of a consumable nature.
  6. Any transfer of ownership of the Product. Warranty is provided only to the original Purchaser who signed up for  the LG Warranty Registration. 
  7. Non-LG and third party peripherals, memory expansion cards, PC cards or accessories used with LG products are excluded from the Limited Warranty.
  8. It is natural for all thin-film transistors (TFT) liquid crystal displays (LCD) to show a small number of missing or discoloured dots. These are commonly known as non-conforming pixels. This is a technology limitation of TFT LCD and does not represent a defect. This Limited Warranty does not cover limitations in technology such as non-conforming pixels. The acceptable number of burned dots on the LG TFT LCD screen is seven (7).
  9. Cracked and scratched LCD screen due to mishandling or negligence by the user; or    damage caused by too much pressure exerted on the LCD.
  10. Preventive maintenance such as conditioning hard disk, recovering data from software virus attacks, checking software virus attacks, running hardware diagnostics test and cleaning are excluded from the Limited Warranty.
  11. The warranty is void by removal or alteration of any identification labels on the machine or any of its components.

WARRANT DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATIONS

The warranties stated herein are in lieu of all conditions and warranties, expressed, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to any implied conditions or warranties or merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose on the part of LG and its affiliates, suppliers, service providers, and resellers. All implied or statutory conditions and warranties to the extent that they cannot be excluded are limited as set forth herein. If the Product is defective in materials or workmanship, the original Purchaser's sole and exclusive remedy shall be repaired or replaced as provided above. However, if that remedy fails of its essential purpose LG reserves the right to exchange with an identical or functionally identical product. Except to the extent prohibited by law, LG and its affiliates, suppliers, service providers, and resellers shall not be liable for any damages including, but not limited to, direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages, loss of use or data, loss of profits, or interruption of business, whether such alleged damages are based on warranty, condition, tort, or contract (even in the nature of breach of fundamental term). LG shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or delay caused directly by fire, explosion, lightning strike, act of god or any other cause beyond the control of LG. Except to the extent prohibited by law this is the exclusive written Limited Warranty of the original Purchaser.

DATA STORAGE MEDIA AND CUSTOMER RESPONSIBLITY

THE ONLY EFFECTIVE PROTECTION FOR THE DATA STORED IN A COMPUTER, SUCH AS ON A HARD DISK, IS FOR YOU THE PURCHASER TO REGULARLY BACK UP THE DATA. LG AND ITS AFFILIATES, SUPPLIERS, SERVICE PROVIDERS AND RESELLERS SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SOFTWARE PROGRAMS, DATA OR OTHER INFORMATION STORED OR USED ON ANY MEDIA OR PART OF ANY PRODUCT RETURNED TO LG OR ITS SERVICE PROVIDERS FOR WARRANTY SERVICE AND/OR OTHER REPAIRS.  

IT IS SOLELY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE PURCHASER TO BACK UP ANY SOFTWARE PROGRAMS, DATA, AND ANY  INFORMATION STORED ON ANY STORAGE MEDIA OR ANY PART OF A PRODUCT BEFORE RETURNING IT  TO THE DESIGNATED SERVICE CENTERS FOR WARRANTY  OR REPAIR SERVICES.  DATA RECOVERY IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY SERVICE AND LG IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DATA THAT MAY BE LOST OR DAMAGED DURING TRANSIT OR REPAIRS.
